The Challenge Trophy

The Challenge Trophy is awarded annually to the member who travels the greatest distance to club events each club year. All members will be eligible for award of the Challenge Trophy.

The Challenge Trophy

Only the distance travelled to events classified as Club events, designated by the initials MECCNZ and advertised for at least one month in the Club events programme will, count towards the Challenge Trophy. The distance travelled to each event will be the shortest route measured in kilometres from the member’s New Zealand address as recorded in the member register to the advertised starting point for the event. Where multiple starting points are advertised for an event, the distance will be measured from the member’s home address to the first starting point attended. The distance will be the distance as shown on an approved road map. One point will be awarded for each kilometre travelled. Where a prescribed route is advertised in the events programme, such as a “Round the Ranges Rally”, bonus points may be awarded by the Club Captain for those who complete the prescribed journey. A minimum of 25 Points will be awarded for each event attended. No account will be taken of the member’s mode of travel to the event, except that the member must travel in a registered vehicle. The Committee will select the winner, which will be announced at the AGM. Award of the Challenge Trophy will not preclude award of any other club trophy. The Committee’s decision will be final. Each recipient will hold the trophy for approximately one year then return it in good condition to the Club Captain before the AGM.
